We just had move calls again, the news is wonderful. I am staying with my companion, in North 新莊. Our Zone stayed except for our district leader and his companion. The district leader is moving to the South zone as a zone leader, and his companion is moving down to 新竹 zone (苗栗 Miao2 Li4). We are having a zone leader that is now a trainer move in to take their spots. He is probably one of the funniest missionaries in the mission, and a hard worker. Elder VanDrew is a great airforce guy. We will possibly have the most fun district ever (as well as lots and lots of faith go 'fresh out of the MTC' missionaries) We will see miracles.
It is almost Chinese New Year. The scariest time of the year for missionaries. Especially when your ward is going to be feeding you for 9 days...yes, 2 meals a day where they will force food down your throat for 9 days...it is tastey food. We will be able to see much more of the ward and hopefully be able to get them even more fired up with all that we expect to see in February. We have some great investigators that simply need to hear and live the commandments and they will be baptized. The ward has done a decent job of getting to know them and they have done a very good job of keeping their commitments.
One of the greatest things we have seen is a man named Alan (趙志強). He has taught himself. We give the scriptures to read and then when we meet again he teaches us nearly exactly what we plan on teaching him. We will be preparing with him to finish up the majority of the commandments this week and he should be ready for baptism on the 4th of February (as long as he can come to church these next 2 weeks). Everyone else is doing incredible. Johny (陳俊余) has set a baptismal date, he is looking forward to doing all that he must do. We still have a few commandments to teach him, as well as some more foundation laying, but he should be ready. Brian (程彥龍) is still just as good as ever. We will review and teach him the rest of the commandments and he will be baptized come February. He has left for home for the next 2 weeks and we hope that he will go to church of his own accord.
I am happy, healthy, wealthy, and wise. This has been a wonderful transfer with Elder Kenison and should be another. We are taking it up a notch and are going to have the winningest companionship.
Church yesterday was about Reverence (虔敬) Qian2 Jing4. There was a funny story about a mother prayer and her little girl walking around while she was praying...because that is what here primary teacher taught her (前進) Qian2 Jin4...it was funny and cute and made me chuckle because I always love to play off the sounds and words that people use. It is nice to have an investigator next to me that can explain all of those subtle differences.
This absolutely is the true Church of God. The Book of Mormon is true. There are living prophets upon the earth and we are led by them. Jesus Christ lives.
Love,
沈義謙
