Song of the post, "Kayla" by Flying Colors. This is a band that I saw on Facebook because one of the drummers I follow (Mike Portnoy) posted about their preparation for their second album. The band fuses funk, jazz, pop, prog, and just about everything else in one studio and puts the feeling of pure creation and freedom into sound waves that have kept me rocking for the last month. I'm sure regardless of your specific musical tastes you can find something you like here. (soaring guitars and sweet drum fills make it for me).
Obviously this post is a little late for some of us. I, however, having gone straight back to school had to postpone the start of summer until this next thursday. I will be living it in style heading down to Las Vegas for what appears to be the biggest Grand Prix. It will be the largest I have attended (the only other one being Grand Prix Portland 2 years ago in 2011). Regardless of the size it will be quite an adventure. I am excited to have a few hours friday morning to go to the temple in Las Vegas and meet up with Dylan, a friend from the MTC. This trip has just about everything. I even head back early Sunday to speak with my father on Sunday. (That makes 2 weeks in a row of speaking, both of them are on missionary work.) Life comes at one fast. This is the beginning of a great summer. Hopefully it ends nearly this well with a road trip out to California and perhaps another Grand Prix. Let's fill it up. What do you have planned for this summer? (post it in the comments)
There is a packed week for me starting tomorrow, among the exciting things are a midnight movie in Salt Lake with Ben and friends. Saturday there is a baptism in the ward. (The elders called me this evening asking me to conduct; that is the first we have talked since I became ward mission leader). Sunday is Father's Day...should I be getting something special? What do you get a father who wants next to nothing gift wise? I hope my presence and a flour less chocolate cake suffice (I distinctly remember doing something similar for a Christmas some time ago when I hadn't bought anything until Christmas Eve).
Coming up next week I will post my year long calendar of events that I have been very bad at doing, I will try harder once I get out of school...starting tonight infact. Join me if you so desire, if the Chinese is hard I will provide translations as well.
Good luck and Have Fun!
