As you know the food here has to feed 2000+ of us so it is heavily processed and very sugary, but there are ways to avoid that. Elder Phelps, my companion is watching me a bit to keep me in check. All the walking and the gym time is being put to good use and I can't wait for the tall apartment buildings and bicycles in Taiwan.
Let me go back to the beginning, we arrived on Wednesday and got to work. We met our general director of the pilot program for Mandarin and she spoke only Mandarin. We checked in and learned some things and then learned our purpose as missionaries was to invite and help those seeking to come and receive the Gospel message which we share. We got to witness some teaching opportunities and share our testimonies several times (yes, this is all the first day still.) We then, very tired, got to retire to bed after preparing for the next day. We arise and begin our first day with the missionary schedule. We arrive in class in the morning after breakfast and personal study and learn that later that day we would be teaching our first 'investigator' (another part of the pilot program we teach all the time, we learn our language to help our investigator and we learn the rest of the words on our own.) So later that day we begin to teach in only mandarin and thanks to Elder Phelps spirit and our combined learning from the day before (and from high school) we get across that we are Heavenly Father's children and that he loves us, this is his word, the Book of Mormon is true, and we asked him to read it. The next day we went back and taught him how to pray and had him pray with us (all still in mandarin) I'm amazed how much I already know. we have continued to learn, but conference interrupted our language learning to bless us with messages from our living prophets, and we do have living prophets.
Today I reviewed some of the messages from conference then went to the temple. Don't ever forget how great it is to go regularly (weekly) and always have a temple recommend. Let them know that I know that this is God's work and that this church is true, The prophets will lead and guide us the way that we need to be, I have been keeping quite a bit in my journal so i will expound more as I can, This email time goes fast. I love you all and Hope that this post finds you all growing and learning and staying strong and healthy.
